Gabrielle Anwar BIOGRAPHY
Attractive actress who charmed moviegoers as Al Pacino's tango partner in 1992's Scent of a Woman. Trained at a London drama and dance school, Anwar appeared in many BBC-TV productions before making her film debut in the U.S.-Yugoslavian production Manifesto (1988). She followed with If Looks Could Kill (1991) before making a splash (literally) as real-life "diving girl" on horseback Sonora Webster in the sincere and underrated Disney picture Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken (1991). Had the film been a hit, it could have been a star-making vehicle for the radiant Anwar (who also managed to suppress her British accent for this American role). Since the success of Scent of a Woman she has starred as Michael J. Fox's love interest in For Love or Money (1993) and as the heroine in Abel Ferrara's gruesome Body Snatchers (1994). Daughter, Willow, born in 1993. Daughter of a British film editor born in India and an English actress. At 19, moved to Los Angeles with American actor, Craig Sheffer, whom she met while both were working in London. Chosen by "People" magazine as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world. [1993]
